Taking Care of Hu-Man's Best Friend: Diet, Exercise, and Dog Vitamins

There is nothing more rewarding than a shared life with a canine companion. Each dog has its own unique personality, but all of them are happiest when spending time with you.

Caring for them may seem like a huge responsibility, but with a little help the rewards are worth every minute! Your pup will thank you by living a long, energetic life.

Essential Items

Your dog should always have access to clean water and will also need a food dish. Many trainers suggest a kennel or crate for your dog and most owners find that crate training makes leaving their dog immeasurably easier. A comfortable dog bed is also appreciated by your canine friend and be sure to place it in an area where you spend a lot of time relaxing.

Watching What they Eat

What your dog eats is a big decision. There are whole aisles of dog food at the pet store! Avoid heavily marketed brands you see on TV and found at the grocery store. Although there are numerous quality dog food brands at your local pet food store you may want to consider making your own. The three most important factors are: your dog's age, activity level, and health, including ideal weight.

Essential Vitamins

Just like our meals, a dog food can't check every nutritional box and dog vitamins are an important part of taking care of your canine companion. If your pup is a picky eater, it’s possible they aren't getting a daily dose of anything! A multivitamin is a quick, easy way to make sure your dog has everything it needs to live a long, healthy life.

Vitamins can contribute to healthy, shiny coats, digestive health, and bone growth! Some dogs do have vitamin deficiencies, but talk to your holistic vet about diagnosing them before beginning a specific vitamin regimen. With the right nutrition, your pup will have a bounce in their step and a wag in their tail their whole life.
